The Story Behind All the Madness

A Little History:

Tea has been around since 2737 B.C.E. according to a Chinese legend, and since that first discovery in China, tea has made its way slowly around the world and integrated itself into many cultures. Tea then finally made its way over to America in the mid-1600s and is now found to be the world’s most popular drink after water. Coffee hasn’t been around nearly as long as tea has, but it has had the same process in how it has been able to grow in popularity. Since there are shops like Starbucks or Caribou that offer tea and coffee, the industry for cafés with these types of products in them continue to grow as society itself progresses.

According to assorted studies, youth between the ages of 18-24, in a coffee drinking rate, is on the low end but it's shown to be growing slowly over the years. The same results are found for tea drinkers within that same age range as well. This age demographic is among the youths of college-aged students. For those students, social media plays an important roll in their day to day lives. By keeping this in mind, the use of social media with this demographic is crucial to how we can attract and create interest for The Mad Tea Cup. The location of our café is within walking distance near a college or university campus. This provides this demographic much easier access to our café and its products as well as having a fun place to be in between or after classes.

About Me:

My name is Kiana Murkve and I am the proud owner of The Mad Tea Cup. It all started out as a simple dream of opening my very own café. With the hopes of people coming together to escape into another world, even if just for a bit, while simply taking the time to relax and enjoy themselves and live in the moment. What better way to escape into another world that to become an entirely different world, perhaps an even wonderish world?

The story of Alice and Wonderland always intrigued me and left me in a state of wonder and endless imagination. Everything within the story was so completely unique and quirky in its own way that gave the story and the characters within it a certain charm. Through opening my own themed café based on this timeless story, I hoped to bring some part of that quirky charm to life.
